GEZA FREY MAKES THE MERRY JANE POWER PLAYERS LIST FOR 2020

I believe everything happens for a reason. After a major football injury and a two-year recovery from two reconstructive surgeries on my right hand, I struggled with what to do after the painkillers ran out. My whole life I was told that it would destroy my life… I decided to give cannabis a try for the betterment of my physical and mental health. At first, I thought it would simply replace the medication I was already on - but I would quickly find out that it was so much deeper than that. Cannabis enabled me to put my mind to rest while awake and asleep. especially focus on my creative moments, pushing past the doubt and pain caused by my injury. There are a ton of stigmas around cannabis but nothing else on the planet helps me have a clear mind to focus on my work the way cannabis does. The past couple of years I’ve educated myself on the strains, the health benefits, the terps, and the entire industry. I want to be a part of something bigger. I want to tell the stories that matter. I feel like I’m meant to break down stigmas. To show the black and brown communities that there are actual opportunities for us in this space. It’s up to us to inject our perspectives into another industry that was built off our backs. Coming into it, I feared what my family and the church would say, and how it would affect my career in the sneaker industry. However, since losing my full-time gig when COVID hit, I’ve been able to gain traction in the industry and little by little more people are paying attention. I feel that if I wasn’t meant to be in this, God wouldn’t have opened these doors for me. But while I’m here, I will take every opportunity I can to not only put myself on but most importantly, to provide a pathway to opportunities in cannabis. 

 A huge thank you to all of you who have nominated me, support me, engage with my content, and especially those who share my content. I fw y’all as much as you fw me! If not more!!! This wouldn’t be possible without all of you. Anyone who knows me personally knows that I want to see is ALL win. So this one is for us, and it’s only the beginning. 

And shout out to every brand in the cannabis space who’s believed in the vision. I know it’s never easy to find new talent, but I hope that I’ve exceeded all expectations and will continue to grow in this space.
